There are a number of things you should keep in mind when choosing the physical location of the tower/mast. Of course, you have to make sure that you have the necessary free space on the ground where the tower is placed. Check the specifications of the tower/mast you plan to buy to get an idea of the size of the footprint.
The ideal site for the tower/mast is a flat, level site. However, any reasonable horizontal space with enough room to place the foundation can be used. The site should be free of obstructions such as trees and buildings. Not only the location of the tower, but also the surrounding area, as some free space is required when assembling the tower.
Don't forget that trees have roots. Digging a hole through a huge root system is not a dream.
Medium and tall towers/masts often require extensive excavation as concrete foundations must be placed. Always ask to check underground utilities to make sure there is no infrastructure dough where you plan for the tower/mast.
Also, if the tower is tall, be sure to check with the country's regulator if you need to apply for a license and/or register the tower with any authority. If the site is close to an airport, special regulations apply.
